Wow, I graduated!

So I have been horrible about blogging. Now as this blog was mainly intended as a sort of online journal while I was abroad in Europe, this isn't too surprising. But I wanted to keep it up.

I've tried writing poetry. But I haven't been able to put anything together of significance.
I have watched some very good movies. I suppose I could talk about a few.

But first let me say what I've been up to since graduation.

My last semester at Vanderbilt was wonderful. I got to live in a Mayfield, which is 10 single rooms with a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a common area. Chris was the only person I knew really well, but except for our RA everyone was in Blair so I knew most of them by name at least. I am so glad that I got to move in with them! They are all amazing people and I hope to be lifelong friends with all of them.

Academically, the semester was average. At first I was on top of schoolwork, but then as my senior recital approached, I switched to practice mode. That said, although I worked very hard, I should have practiced more at the beginning of the semester. But my recital was pretty good. The Mozart sonata (k.304) was particularly good. But I was still troubled by my memory on the first two movements of Sibelius. *sigh* It was okay, though.

This next year I am staying home and continuing lessons at Blair, hopefully with Professor Teal. Right now I am working with my Dad most days on his handyman stuff, and I babysit for my sister as well. I'll try to find a part time job and get gigs during the year. And *fingers crossed* I emailed Professor Fountain about possibly going to China with the Vanderbilt Orchestra in the winter.

So since I have a flexible schedule right now, I will try to blog somewhat frequently.
Here are some goals for the summer that I have:

Copy Barron's 501 German Verbs.
Translate Die Zauberflöte, libretto by Schikaneder. (The Magic Flute)
Practice violin, starting the last movement of Sibelius and getting the first two movements ready to record.
Learn the viola (I borrowed Chris' old viola for the summer) and play duets and quartets with my recorder.
Learn the cello (I will borrow my sister's old cello).
The quartet I plan to learn is Schubert's Rosamunde. Wish me luck, ha.
Watch all my German movies again.
Plan unlikely road trips or even a trip to see Garrett / the Logans in Korea.
Write poetry.
Compose a piece.
Create a webcomic or at least use my tablet to create some cool art.
Pick a book to read and read all of it.
Finish this note that I started on FB like a month ago.
Finish rereading LOTR.
If Jeff gets me the books, I'll ACTUALLY read Harry Potter. As much as I love shocking HP fans when I tell them I never read the books.
Sort through my Wien recordings, especially the lectures.
Stay in touch with all my friends.

It's a bit late already so I'm gonna get started on these German verbs. My German has been neglected and has suffered, but I do want to become fluent. If you hadn't noticed all the German things on my list.

About a week ago I went to Barnes and Noble to see if they had a German movie (Revanche) but they did not. Instead I took advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free movie deal and got 3 first rate movies.

Tokyo Story, Bicycle Thieves, and Wings of Desire are all lovely, and deserve a 2nd viewing before I write about them. I highly recommend them. Ok, that's all for now.

Tschüss!
