Hello from the Future!

I feel like I could copy and paste much of my last post here, years later. I moved home in 2016, after struggling with depression, and I miss Vienna so much. So much has happened in the world, it would have been impossible to believe that a global pandemic like Covid 19 would shut down the world for almost 2 years. Donald Trump was elected President, just as the Simpsons predicted, and although many liberal Democrats lost their minds, I was fairly impressed with how much he got done. Personally, I find it very difficult to believe that Joe Biden legitimately won the 2020 election, after many suspicious reports from several key states. But the 2020 election deserves it's own space for reflection.

Covid lockdowns made the past 2 years pretty miserable for a lot of people. I managed to avoid getting it, but Dad caught it and said he once felt that he was going to die. Even now, months after recovering, he says his sense of taste and smell aren't what they used to be.

Personally, I still feel lost. I moved out to Antioch 2 years ago, where I could afford an apartment and be close to Dad's shop. I helped Dad move several times and we even had to move his shop from one part of the church to another. Work as a handyman is still enjoyable, on the whole, but I've never looked at it as a fulfilling career. I have hardly touched my violin since I moved back from Austria.

Not feeling that I could be a responsible dog owner if I had to leave them alone several hours a day for work, I brought home a cute, little hedgehog instead. I finally decided to call him Radar, after the MASH character, and he will be 1 year old in February.

But after this brief recap, I hope to return to blogging more regularly to put my thoughts down on (virtual) paper. I know that life is what you make of it, and I know that it won't be easy, but EVERY moment of EVERY day I need to put forth my best efforts to better myself. German and Music are still some of my top priorities, and I intend to buckle down this year in earnest.

Quickly worth mentioning, Chris is getting MARRIED tomorrow in Louisiana (Just a small family gathering for now, I'll be at the reception they have in Nashville later this year); Amber moved to Tampa for a new job; and Martha got remarried and my nephew Knox just turned 1 a few months ago.

Here's a cute picture of Radar before I go. Hopefully I'll be posting again soon and on a regular basis.
