Just a quick post about college basketball.
First and foremost, I am so proud to be a Vanderbilt Commodore. I was so happy that the team finally beat Kentucky, the number 1 team in the country, to win the SEC Championship for the first time since 1951! They played a near flawless game, and the experience of this veteran team won the respect and admiration of the entire country.
I have watched an obscene amount of basketball this season, and particularly enjoyed championship week. I know the PAC 12 is a very weak conference this year, but I was pleased to watch Colorado win and secure their bid to the big dance. I obviously am not going to school there for the sports, but it's nice to have another team to root for.
Finally, I am pleased with the region Syracuse was placed in. Unfortunately, Vanderbilt is the 5 seed in that region so they will meet (if everything goes well) in the Sweet 16. It was great hearing commentators say that Vandy could give Syracuse a good fight. It would be hard to root for one team over the other, but I feel that Syracuse has legitimate Championship hopes if they take care of business (particularly rebounding). I think Vandy will finally get past the first round (now 2nd round, technically), especially riding high after getting over the hump and finally knocking off Kentucky. I haven't seen Harvard play, but I think we got a good placement.
March is a great time of year. I always look forward to the madness. I hope someone at least makes it to the Final Four.
