Residence Permit

So yesterday I finally picked up my Aufenthaltsbewilligung, which was accompanied by such a sense of accomplishment after all the delays. It's a pretty red and blue card with my uninspired, emotionless portrait, just like a driver's license. And it's valid until the end of April, 2016. I hear the renewal process is much quicker, but a friend who lives in my district says he hates the local office and has unnecessary problems when he renews. But I'll find out next year.

My posters finally came but I needed 97 Euros for some baffling reason, and I didn't have enough on me so I will have to pick them up from the post office today. I will try to ask them why I am being charged when it has taken over 3 weeks for delivery. I have to find a place where I can get my print from Rachel P. framed. I'm really excited to have something to look at on the walls.

Oh! Trey is finalizing his summer plans and we talked with Shelby and decided to meet in Prague for a few days in July, since he has never been. We booked a hotel room and our train tickets. After Prague Trey is coming back to stay with me for a few days before heading off to London, I believe. Unfortunately it appears that all the orchestras and the opera take July off, but there is plenty left to see and do. I wish I had been able to find my guide books for Vienna and Germany before I left home.

I'm really excited that I will be able to see Prague again, and have Trey and Nina visit over the summer. I'm thinking I might pop over to Bratislava or down to Baden bei Wien or somewhere closeby. I need to start finding students and hopefully some paid gigs. I was just asked to play in a concert in July, although I won't be paid. As I'm not sure who will be in town over the summer I'm glad to have a few plans that I can look forward to. It might get a little lonely otherwise. The reason I am here is to practice constantly, but I don't want to lock myself in my apartment and not experience Europe to the fullest that I can.
