My new camera lens came yesterday! It's a Fujian 35mm f1.7 lens. I asked Martha for a telephoto lens for Christmas. Eventually, I'd like to get the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 pancake. But for now, my new Fujian lens is very nice for low light / night photography with it's big aperture. It's slightly soft around the edges, but not as much as I hoped / worried.
I've been watching as many instructional videos about photography as I can. I've learned how to customize some of the buttons on my camera and I'm learning how to change my settings quickly. I love dreaming about getting new cameras and lenses. But considering what I have, I feel good with my equipment now that I know how to get around. Dad gave me good advice, that I should go back to my camera manual after figuring out the basics. I know most of the basics in the menus now and can learn the advanced things.
I'm also having fun learning to use this manual focus only lens. Also, this is the first prime lens I've used, so it forces me to think about my composition differently. I'm so excited for the trip to China, and I want to be ready to get some beautiful pictures.
